Eddie and the Choo-Choo

The Cradle of Forestry is a historic forestry school right outside of Brevard where George Vanderbilt hired foresters to maintain his massive western NC property. It’s only a few minutes from Brevard in Pisgah National Forest, and we learned that they have an old steam engine that kids are allowed to climb and play on. Boy, was it fun! The first stop was the trout pond, where Eddie spent some time pointing out “fishies.”

The best part, of course, was the restored 1915 logging engine. Eddie was so excited, and his daddy had a great time, too!
