Playing with Friends

Another messy meal.

We had not seen Maple (of the Build-A-Bear birthday party) and her sister Oaklynn in awhile, so we got together at Brevard College and played in the creek and the volleyball sand before heading off to have Mexican food for lunch.

One Saturday afternoon, we babysat the kids whose mom kept Eddie the week LuAnne was out of town. Ruby (4) and Max (2) had a fantastic time wading with Eddie in his pool and playing with his toys.

We took Eddie out to Fawn Lake in DuPont State Forest, where Kyle tried to show him how to use his new kickboard. Eddie was pretty terrified of being in water over his head at first, but he eventually started to relax. He had a really good time digging in the dirt on the bank, and after watching people jump off the dock all day, he eventually jumped off the dock by himself and had to be fished out of the water. This, of course, was very frightening for his mother!

Big Brother Eddie

If you haven’t heard the news, at this time next year Eddie will have a little brother who will probably be trying desperately to crawl around after him! We’re glad he’s going to have a little friend for impromptu spashy pool-times!

He has really developed an impressive understanding of what we’re saying. I asked him just this morning to go get a diaper to put on and he came back dragging the whole package. It was really funny because it was almost as big as he is!

Eddie has been squealing about this toy ever since he discovered it in the store. Who would have known? He really likes cause-and-effect right now. He likes to push the button to make the trash can open. Unfortunately he then likes to put things (anything!) in the trash. I’ve had to dig Oso out of the trash! One of Kyle’s watches turned up missing, so the trashcan’s new home is now the back deck.

According to Kyle’s GPS watch, Eddie walked a whole mile by himself in DuPont. It was a great day.

Eddie picked up a yellow jacket recently and it stung him, so he has been much more wary of bugs. This moth was on the ceiling of the deck one morning and he was both drawn to it and very suspicious. He kept pointing to it and asking “bug?”

I’m not sure why he put two straws in his mouth or is holding a bowl over his face, but he thinks it’s really funny.

Kyle got Lego Star Wars for the Wii. Fun!
