My "stump" finally fell off (which was a BIG relief for my Mom, who was beginning to worry about it). This led to my first bath in my new tub. Mom & Dad were both surprised that I didn't get very angry about being in the water, but I thought it was very nice and started to try to talk about it when they took me out and bundled me up in hoodie towels. Mom is thrilled that I smell like baby lotion now, even though she says she thought I smelled wonderful before & the bath was just an experiment. She really didn't think I'd like it yet. I've been sleeping in my crib on my real mattress every night, too. I love my mobile. It has a great setting that sounds like birds & crickets that I think is fascinating. I still take naps in my "pack & play" which is in Mom's & Dad's bedroom. On Monday morning I went to work with Mom for a few minutes and met all her friends. It was great to get all that attention. You can see from my picture to the left how pooped I was after all that!

Big Eddie
I've had an extra trip to the doctor because of my tummy, but I'm feeling much better now. And I'm getting so BIG! On Tuesday, February 19, I weighed 10 lb 6 oz!!! Yesterday, Mom and I went for a walk around the bookstore. Actually, she walked around the bookstore while I slept in my carrier. It was the first time we were able to do that outside the house & it was really nice for both of us! Smiles and hugs to everyone...

Sleeping in My Own Bed
Happy Valentines Day! I had my doctor's appointment on February 14 and I weigh 9 lb 15 oz! I've been spending much more time awake, too. On Friday Mom's friends from work came to visit and brought lunch. She enjoyed that a lot. She has also been trying to convince me to sleep in my big bed for short stretches during the day, but I'm not too crazy about that yet. I make her sit with me until I fall asleep and get very angry when I wake up. I'd rather sleep in my bouncy chair!

Happy Birthday to Me!
I'm one month old today! Unfortunately, my Dad had to go back to work. Mom & I missed him a lot, but we did have a productive day. We made it to Raleigh to have portraits taken of me (I was very good and cooperated nicely, but refused to smile for the photographer... that's still reserved only for Mom & Dad) This required a lot of coordination on Mom's part - she had to wake up before I did to get herself ready. Then she fed me, changed me, and whisked me out to the car the minute I woke up. We got home in time to meet Dad for lunch, then we both slept all afternoon until he got home! It was great. By the way, check out my smile. I have my Mommy wrapped around my finger...

Smiling in my Sleep
I've been having such a fun week. My Gram'ma is here & we've been out to picnics in the park a couple of times. I like to be outside... it makes me smile in my sleep. I've been practicing my smiling, but flatly refuse to perform when I'm awake & Mom or Dad is waiting with the camera pointed at my face. Usually I do it more when I'm lightly sleeping. See the black & white picture Dad took of me over Mom's shoulder? He happened to catch part of my smile! I've also been making cute little noises like "ooo," "aaa," & "uuuh." I've got lots to grin about. The terrific gifts & cards from all my friends keep coming. Auntie L. made me a couple more wonderful hats (umbilical cord!!) and Mike & Sylvia sent me a fun block-stacking musical turtle. I sure had fun watching Mom put it together & play with it! She was very amused, so I'm sure that soon I will be, too! Finally, the last picture is of my Dad, the Trekkie, playing "Vulcan Baby." How embarassing. And Mom thinks it's FUNNY & snaps pictures!!! Don't worry, I deprived them of a few extra hours of sleep to pay them back for all their fun at my expense! : )

Mission Aborted
My photo session that was scheduled for Friday had to be postponed until February 12. I'm just too young to have to be on time for an appointment! I let Mom know this by getting completely hysterical every time she put me down to try to get herself dressed.... (Dad was working that day) When Mom was just changing out of pajamas at 2 pm, she gave up on the idea, called the studio to postpone, and took me for a walk outside in my stroller instead (with the new Snuzzler that keeps my head from flopping). Of course, who can cry when they're being strolled down the street on a gorgeous, clear, 60-degree day propped up against fluffy fleece? When we got home, though, I was going to freak out again until she strapped me to her front in my carrier... see picture above of me with my foot hanging out. It's supposed to fit that way! We were good after that. I slept while she made dinner & read to me... we're almost done with "Where the Sidewalk Ends" and will work our way through "A Light in the Attic" next.
My Grandma Dorothyanne arrived yesterday... she is an excellent burper. She can get me to burp even when I didn't know I needed to! Today we have a trip to Wal-Mart (tentatively) planned & sometime this week we're going to try to go for a picnic at the lake for some fresh air.... hmmm, we'll see about that. The adults will catch on soon enough that we only do things if and when I think we should!!! It's great being in charge : )
