Yesterday while Dad took my Volkswagen apart in the driveway, Mom & I went on our first outing together. As soon as she put me in my carseat, I conked out. I slept through our trip to the post office (very important mail being sent out... even to England!), a stroll through the grocery store, and to the VW shop to pick up radiator fluid. In fact, I continued to sleep once we got home, but woke up cranky later! On Friday, we have an appointment in Raleigh to have professional pictures taken of me. In other words, Mom's going to dress me up & hope I sleep soundly through the whole process. She thinks I'll only be this tiny once, though, & supposes good pictures will be worth the work even if I get fussy while we're out. We'll see. Today, we're going for our first walk if Mom can ever get her act together & put something besides pajamas on! She's contemplating just going out in the pj's, but doesn't want to set the precedent for embarrassing me like that... thanks Mom.

Mommy's Nuts About Me
Yes, it was a little painful when Nana left. It's 4:30 on Sunday afternoon, my Dad is napping on the couch, & I'm strapped to Mom's front in my Ergo carrier so I don't cry & she has her hands free. She thinks this is a great invention. I can't argue, as long as she doesn't put me down until I'm SOUND asleep!
When we went to see my doctor on Thursday, we found out that I had not only re-gained my birthweight in less than two weeks, but I had also gained an extra 3 oz. In other words, I weighed 8 lb 6 oz. Mom & Dad could tell you by all the diapers I'm going through & how heavy I feel that I'm getting enough to eat (notice my cute little Budda-belly & chubby cheeks & chin!) Our doc also told Mom that she could take short (15 min) walks starting this week & drive short distances, so she's very excited. She's been sitting on the back steps with me in my carrier today just enjoying the gorgeous sunshine & wishing we could walk down the road . We only came inside because it was getting chilly! XOX

Apple Pie & Peanut Butter Cookies
Mom thinks that I cannot be spoiled at only a week old, so every time I make this face she scoops me up, tries to figure out what I need, and talks to me. Adults, on the other hand, CAN be spoiled, & Nana is making sure that happens! Mom & Dad have had home-cooked meals like chicken tenders, meatballs, burgers, & chicken soup, and desserts like peanut butter cookies & apple pie. Not to mention fresh flowers, laundry, dishes... how are my parents going to cope when she leaves? It'll be painful.

Visitors!
My Nana is here!!! I don't know first-hand, but Mom says she's a wonderful cook. Right now there's chicken soup simmering on the stove & making her mouth water. She & Mom went to Target last night while Dad sat with me; that made Mom very happy since she can't drive herself anywhere yet (her only outing until last night has been to the doctor's office). And today Dad got to go to the gun show in Raleigh, so having Nana here is making everyone very happy!
Oh yeah, and I got a whole new stack of books from a special visitor from Mom's work yesterday. These have also been added to my reading list post from before. They are Goodnight Moon, Hop on Pop, The Velveteen Rabbit, The Very Hungry Catterpillar, Where the Sidewalk Ends, The Foot Book, Chicka Chicka ABC, My Nose My Toes and Me, and Snow Happy to Be Here! Mom has been reading me a book a day while we sit in our glider (she has a very hard time putting me down, even when I'm okay to sleep by myself...)

My First Doctor Visit
Here I am after we got back from the doctor's office. I thought it would be funny to spray the wall when they put me on the scale (I'm doing great, by the way), and Mom was relieved that I didn't do it on my outfit because the one (?) thing she forgot to pack in her diaper bag was a change of clothes for me. I love my little suit that Aunt Beth brought me from Tokyo, but I already figured out how to squirm out of the mittens. And finally, I got wiped down with a washcloth. It didn't make me too mad. Mom said that after a week there were "treasures" growing in the folds of skin on my neck. Anyway, I'm clean now. Time for food & a nap!
P.S. - I LOVE my paci! It makes me so calm and I can already use my fist to hold it up to my face!

My Pea Hat
The pea in these pictures that Great-Auntie Linda knitted for my head is my best-fitting headwear so far. Mom thinks I look very good in green.
Someone asked her today how she had the time to keep up with my blog... she works on it while I'm spending time with my Dad. So far, I'm a very good baby. I don't have anything to complain about and I only woke up one time last night to be fed. I'm contemplating making things harder on these parents of mine, but for now, I suppose they're pretty tired, and I'm giving them a break. Besides, a full-bellied growing boy needs his sleep.
I'm going on my first "outing" tomorrow. I'll be going to the doctor's office to be weighed, and then I'll be going to see my Dad's work. Mom wants to show me off at her work, too, but it's much farther away and will take a bit more planning. She thinks next week while my Nana is visiting will be a good time. Three adults might make things easier than two.
And finally... HAPPY BIRTHDAY POP!
